As long as your order has not been shipped and the amount is still outstanding, you can easily redeem a credit in your customer account under orders:
- Select the order that you want to pay for by credit note
- Click on "Edit order" and then "Edit" in the Payment section.
- You'll see "Redeem credit note" right at the bottom.
- Then updated the payment settings for this order by clicking "Save changes".
